My name is Yvonne and I have officially lived at LaVieTara since October 2024. I first came here as a volunteer in October 2023. Before that, I only knew it from
the stories of a friend, who had been there more than once. She came up with the idea of volunteering there together.
As we drove up the driveway in October 2023, my mouth dropped open: this is 'my home'. About 10 years ago, I saw a detailed picture of my future home, like a vision. The building had red shutters and some kind of towers on either side. An entrance in the middle that led almost directly to the kitchen. And a forest at the back. At the front was a large terrace with long tables and umbrellas. The sun was shining, there was merriment, food and drink. I recognised all this in LaVieTara.
I immediately felt a deep connection with the ground and the building. It was as if I clicked into it. Moreover, I had a good click with owner Erik, with whom it is nice to work. That's how the ball got rolling. I then returned more often for longer periods of time and last year I gave up hearth and home in the Netherlands to come and live here.
I can now call myself manager and cook of LaVieTara. Together with friends and volunteers, we organise all kinds of projects. We upgrade the rooms, plant an orchard and vegetable gardens, bake our own bread, and use vegetables from our own garden to put in and cook with, and do much more,
So for now, I will be here for a while! Hope to meet you on LaVieTara
